The gospel is the good news of God’s grace invading the darkness of this world. The good news is that God sent his only son, Jesus, to earth. Jesus lived a perfect life. No mess ups, no shortfalls, no hiccups...perfection.
His perfect life was needed to pay a penalty that humankind could not pay. Jesus paid the ultimate price with his life, where he was crucified on the cross for the sins of the world. He was laid to rest in a tomb.
Three days after burial, Jesus arose from the dead and ascended back to heaven. We celebrate because Jesus’ crucifixion is the heart of the gospel. His resurrection is the power of the gospel. His ascension is the glory of the gospel.
